# SubFlow — Subscriptions & Save

_Manage subscriptions with automated billing_

SubFlow builds the selling plans, charges every renewal, retries the cards that fail, and gives subscribers a place to skip, pause or change a delivery themselves — so the only thing left on your desk is the products.

## Recurring revenue is not recurring work

Subscriptions are supposed to run themselves. Most of the effort is in the parts that go wrong after checkout.

- **Renewals waiting on someone to charge them** → Due billing cycles are charged for you, every hour
- **A failed card nobody chases** → Retries on your own day pattern, then pause or cancel
- **Every skip and pause arriving as a support email** → Subscribers do it themselves from their account
- **Cancellations that leave without a word** → A reason and a save offer first, both logged

## What SubFlow runs for you

Built on Shopify's own subscription APIs, so plans, contracts and payments stay where your store already keeps them.

- **Selling plans in a few clicks**: Pick a frequency in days, weeks, months or years and a discount by percentage, fixed amount or flat price. Start from a template — Subscribe & Save, tiered savings, weekly delivery — or write your own.
- **Billing that runs itself**: Shopify does not charge subscription contracts on its own. SubFlow does, on a schedule, and reads every success and failure back from Shopify's billing-attempt webhooks.
- **Dunning you control**: Failed payments retry on your own day pattern — 1, 3, 5, 7 and 10 days by default, up to five attempts. When the retries run out the subscription pauses, cancels, or is left alone: your rule, not ours.
- **A self-service customer portal**: In their Shopify account, subscribers pause, resume, skip the next delivery, change frequency or quantity, add a one-off product to the next order, and edit what is in their box.
- **A save offer before the cancel**: Cancelling asks why first, then offers a discount, a pause or a skip based on the answer. Every reason and outcome lands in a log you can read.
- **Nine emails you never write**: Renewal reminders, payment receipts and failures, dunning nudges, pause and resume confirmations, cancellations, skipped out-of-stock lines and win-backs — each one switchable, in your sender name and brand colour.

## Three steps, then it is running

- **Create a plan**: Choose an interval and a discount, or start from a template. SubFlow creates the Shopify selling plan group and attaches the products you picked.
- **Add the block to your product page**: The subscribe-and-save widget is a theme app block. Drop it into your product template in the theme editor — nothing is written into your theme files, and it leaves with the app.
- **Leave it alone**: Charges, retries, emails and the customer portal carry on without you. The dashboard tracks MRR, active subscribers, churn and average order value, and exports to CSV.

## What merchants sell with it

- **Replenishment**: Coffee, supplements, pet food, refills — anything that runs out. One subscribe-and-save discount, or a bigger one for a longer interval.
- **Curated boxes**: Build-a-Box: you define the pool of products and the number of slots, the customer fills the box on the product page and can change next month's from their account.
- **Memberships and access**: A recurring charge with no shipping decision to make — the contract renews, the emails go out, and cancelling still goes through the save offer.
- **Rent-to-own**: An optional module: a deposit, a fixed number of monthly payments, an agreement the customer signs online, and a buyout or hand-over at the end of the term. Off until you switch it on.

## One plan, and it is free

- **Free** — Free. Everything the app does, on any store, from the first install.

## Questions merchants ask

### Does this use Shopify's native subscriptions?

Yes. Your plans are Shopify selling plan groups and each subscriber is a Shopify subscription contract, charged through Shopify Checkout on the payment method already saved there. No money moves through a second processor, and if you ever remove SubFlow the contracts remain Shopify's.

### What happens when a renewal payment fails?

Shopify sends the failed billing attempt, the subscription enters dunning, and SubFlow retries on the day pattern you set — 1, 3, 5, 7 and 10 days out of the box, up to five attempts — emailing the customer along the way. If the retries run out, it pauses the subscription, cancels it, or does nothing, whichever you chose.

### Can customers manage their own subscriptions?

Yes, in the customer account area. They can pause, resume, skip the next delivery, change the frequency or quantity, add a one-off product to the next order, edit the contents of a box, and cancel — which is where the save offer appears.

### Do I have to edit my theme?

No. The product-page widget is a theme app block you place in the theme editor, and the customer portal is a Shopify customer-account extension. Nothing is injected into your theme files and nothing is left behind if you uninstall.

### What if something in a subscription goes out of stock?

SubFlow checks stock before it charges and does what you told it to: hold the whole cycle until the item is back, skip just that line and email the customer, or substitute a variant you nominated in advance.

### Can customers build their own box?

Yes. A Build-a-Box plan has a slot count and a pool of eligible products; the customer picks their box on the product page, it becomes a normal subscription contract, and they can change what is inside before the next charge.

## Turn one sale into a standing order
